About Us

For decades, our attorneys and advocates have stood beside neighbors facing eviction, abuse, and lost income.

We are not a government office, and we are not a business. We are an independent nonprofit law firm, rooted in this community and accountable to the people we serve.

Everything we do is free for the people who qualify, because justice should never depend on what you can afford.

When you call us, you will reach a real person who listens, explains your options in plain language, and stays with you until the matter is resolved. That is our promise, and it has not changed since the day we opened our doors.

Justice should not
depend on income

Every year, millions of people face eviction, abuse, or lost benefits without a lawyer. We exist to change that for the people in our community.

We take cases that protect the basics: a safe home, a stable family, income, and health care.

Rooted here,
trusted here

Our staff live and work in the neighborhoods we serve. Many of us came to this work because someone once helped our own families.

We partner with courts, shelters, clinics, and faith communities so people can find us where they already are.

Advice first,
representation when it counts

Not every problem needs a lawsuit. We start with clear advice and self-help tools, and step in fully when a case or a court date demands it.

When we represent you, we stay with you until the matter is resolved.

Dignity in
every conversation

We ask only what we need to know, explain every step in plain language, and never charge a fee.

Interpreters and accessible formats are available at no cost.

Change that
outlasts one case

We track the patterns we see, from illegal lockouts to benefit denials, and work with partners to fix the systems behind them.

Your case can help protect your neighbors too.
